Fall 2008

The 90 Girls Hurricanes finished with an overall record of 6 wins and 4 losses; two losses by only a goal in Premier division, and the other loss in PK’s. So, this team of girls from 4 different high schools, never playing together, came together and were very competitive. They finished strong with 2 wins this past weekend in Charlotte in the Premier bracket.

The 93 Hurricanes finished their Fall 2008 season with an overall record of 13 wins and 2 losses; BOTH losses coming from overtime PK’s! They won both the Columbia and Charleston tournaments and lost in the finals in Charlotte to the #3 ranked team in NC.

The 93 PISA Hurricanes DID IT AGAIN !!! This time, winning the Charleston Shootout over the October 11th weekend where they won 4 games to earn 1st place out of 8 teams. The girls out-scored their opponents 10 goals to 3, winning a nail-biter in the championship match against the home-town team 4-3.

The 93 PISA Hurricanes girls team traveled to Columbia SC October 4th weekend to compete in the Columbia United Carolina Cup , winning 4 games in a row to  earn 1st place out of 9 teams. Spring 2008

The Pleasure Island Soccer Girls U-14 Hurricanes and coach Chris Libert traveled to Charlotte to play in the 2008 Julian Brown Memorial Cup. The girls played against some of the top teams in NC and GA who have already played 15-16 games this season and are in better condition. However, our girls showed great talent and determination by winning their first game 1-0 with a goal from Kara Bennett. The second game they also won 1-0 with a goal from Megan Panzanella. Their 3rd game was there most difficult, taking on a top team from Augusta GA and almost tied at the end though barely losing 3-2.

The Fall season is the actual soccer season for this competitive age group. Anyone considering playing at the highest level with outstanding coaches and low registration fees should consider trying out for a Hurricanes Team coming end of May. The U14 Boys Pleasure Island Hurricanes place as finalist in the Bridge FA tournament. This group of boys are not only spectacular on the field but absolutely great to be around off the field. They are some of the most well mannered and best natured boys this age I have ever had the opportunity to coach. Thanks to Trey Folcher with Port City Soccer Club for coaching a couple of games because of schedule conflicts. The team that we lost to was from Jacksonville Florida. It took a team from that far away to take down the hurricanes for a 2-1 loss. This team is always looking for players that might be interested in playing for us even if it’s only one event that you can make. Contact Chad Crandell or Director, Mike Bennett at 622-5552.
